Usability testing process
How do we conduct usability testing?
The process involves representative users undertaking a number of tasks on an interface during one-on-one sessions. The participants are observed by our trained facilitators to identify any issues that are encountered when using the interface. Participants are asked to use a think aloud approach to provide insight into their behaviour and experience of the interface to help identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement. Design and strategy recommendations are then provided to inform future enhancements.
Why do we conduct usability testing?
Usability testing is essential for uncovering how real users interact with a product. By observing their actions and gathering direct feedback, we identify usability issues and areas for improvement. This method provides valuable insights that inform design decisions and lead to enhancements that greatly improve the overall user experience.
When do we conduct usability testing?
Usability testing should occur at key stages: during design and prototyping, throughout development for specific features and comprehensively before the product launch. Ongoing testing as a part of continuous improvement and gathering user feedback post-launch ensure the product stays aligned with evolving needs. It can also support the identification of areas for enhancement for older products and systems.
