Heuristic review process
How do we approach heuristic review?
We audit the digital product or interface based on identifying likely user impediments to successful completion and gaining value from the proposition. We identify these issues based on our experience of having observed thousands of people interacting with websites and apps. We also use data analytics to understand current usage of the product and use this to identify areas to focus on improving. Then we provide design recommendations for enhancing it.
Why do we conduct heuristic review?
Heuristic reviews are crucial in uncovering potential usability concerns early in the design process. By applying expert knowledge and established heuristics, we pinpoint areas where the product may not align with best practices. This method provides valuable insights and recommendations for improvement, ultimately leading to a more user-friendly and effective design.
When do we conduct heuristic review?
Heuristic reviews are integrated at critical junctures in the design process. They serve as a foundational assessment, ensuring that the product meets established usability standards. A heuristic review can also be conducted prior to usability testing, allowing quick wins to be addressed before testing with participants. Using a heuristic review to uncover and resolve basic usability issues first can maximise the value obtained from usability testing.
